Madrid, Spain — Argentine composer and conductor Julia Sanchez presents her new single Aire a Bailecito, a work that revisits and reinterprets the rhythmic and expressive logic of the traditional bailecito from northern Argentina through a contemporary sonic perspective.
Aire a Bailecito explores the gesture of dance as a play of approach and distance, sensuality, and courtship, incorporating rhythmic and melodic elements characteristic of this traditional partner dance. These elements are stylized and reconfigured within a contemporary musical language. The piece engages with extended performance techniques, placing tradition within a current soundscape that reflects both the memory of the dance and its emotional and gestural resonance.
